Respect: I interact with peers thoughtfully, using kind words and a gentle tone.
What does this look like?
- I understand words can hurt just as much as actions.
- I respect others’ opinions.
- I include others and let everyone have a voice.
The character strengths of tact and kindness will help me be respectful when I am working or playing with others in the classroom and on the playground.

A huge congratulations to our Kindergarten students who are now 100 days brighter! On Friday 25 July, Kindergarten students dressed up in bright colours and enjoyed the day by creating 100 themed glasses, dancing at a disco and participating in ‘100’ writing and maths activities. They also paraded around the school for their peers, and to parents, grandparents and guardians in the afternoon. It was a fabulous day. Congratulations Kindergarten!

Pittwater Network Student Representative Council
On Wednesday 2 July, Myra and I attended a leadership conference. We learned about racism and how it can happen, where it can happen, how it can affect someone and how it is dealt with. We learned that schools have an ARCO which is an anti-racism contact officer and that if someone does something racist, they will go to the ARCO. Another interesting thing we learned was about Narrabeen Man. Narrabeen Man was found just down the road from where we met in Pittwater and we learned a little bit about him while we were at the meeting. One thing we learned was that he was killed in a violent matter because maybe he broke a law or did something really bad. Overall, this meeting was very interesting to go to.
By Sachin A (6GC)
At the Director’s Meeting for student representatives at Pittwater Dee Why, we mainly talked about racism. This was a chance for us to find out how we can solve problems in our school that are racist. We learned about how we should be able to handle it, and how someone might feel if they are being affected by it. We talked about the ARCO, which stands for Anti-Racism Contact Officer. This role is in most schools and they are responsible for dealing with racist problems around our school. We also learnt about a special Aboriginal man by the name of the ‘Narabeen Man’. It was found near a bus stop in Dee-Why, which is where our meeting was held! He was killed by three spears and what was extremely interesting, was that his body was four thousand years old! We got several snacks to eat for morning tea and we also received badges to raise awareness that we participated in this event. I personally found this meeting very interesting.

Year 3 Primary Dance Workshop
We went to Sydney Dance Company on Friday 25 July to participate in a professional Department of Education Dance Workshop. First, we created our own dance with 16 counts, followed by lyrical dance to the song Monster Brain and then we did Latin dancing with a partner. Finally, we learnt a jazz dance to the song Rain on Me. Our favourite was Latin dancing and also choreographing our own dance. At the end of the workshop, we performed all our dances to the parents and teachers. We were all rewarded with a special treat for dancing amazingly. We would like to thank Michelle R and Bridget and Andy C for taking the time to drop us there and back.

Northern NSW and QLD Interschools Snowsport Championships
During the recent school holidays, six of our students competed at the Interschools Snowsport Championships at Perisher Ski Resort. They represented themselves proudly and took part in Alpine, Ski Cross, and Moguls qualifier races across different divisions.
The weather was pretty tough during the week with strong winds and snowfall making things much harder than usual. Some races were run only once, and the Ski Cross Division 5 events were unfortunately cancelled due to the conditions. But despite all that, our students showed great resilience, and we’re really proud of them.
Emma Q (5G) came 9th in the Moguls qualifiers and Patrick Z (1T) came 13th in Ski Cross so they might receive a State invitation - the top 15 individuals are eligible for an invite.
SINPS placed third in Division 6 among public schools, which is such a great achievement!
Well done to the following students who excel in their chosen sport and thrive academically as well!
Patrick Z (1T), Caroline Z (3MW), Melissa Q (3J), Xiang Kin Ethan N (4T), Emma Q (5G), Genevieve K (6L).

Soccer
Carter S (5N) competed at The Kanga Cup in Canberra from 14 - 18 July. He attended with his team from Elite Football Academy who were the defending champions from last year.
The team played exceptionally well and once again came home with the winning trophy for the U/10 Open Cup division. The final was won in a tight game which went into overtime.
They have not lost a game in two years of competing in the highest division. Something they are very proud of.
Congratulations Carter!
