Proudly supporting Bullying No Way: National Week of Action
This year St Ives North Public School is participating in the Bullying No Way: National week of action, 11 to 15 August 2025. It provides an opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to bullying prevention. It gives us an opportunity to connect with students, staff and school communities to implement workable solutions to prevent bullying.
The theme for this year's campaign is Be Bold. Be Kind. Speak Up.
It takes a community to be brave and address bullying behaviours, within and beyond the school gate.
Students can be bold, kind and speak up to support others being bullied. While trusted adults are there to support children and young people learn how to be kind to each other and report bullying.
If your child tells you about things at school, or you observe something in public that involves conflict or bullying, take the opportunity to talk about what bullying is. You can learn more about what defines bullying, more information about Bullying No Way Week and bullying prevention by visiting the Bullying No Way website - bullyingnoway.gov.au
This Bullying No Way Week, we’re asking you to be bold and say something, be kind and support someone and be proud to speak up against bullying.
New Outdoor Furniture
Thank you to the P&C for funding some new outdoor furniture. Mr Barrie is busy securing the seats to the concrete so our students can use these during lessons or for a quiet spot at recess and lunch time.

Respect: I interact with peers thoughtfully, using kind words and a gentle tone.
What does this look like?
- I understand words can hurt just as much as actions.
- I respect others’ opinions.
- I include others and let everyone have a voice
The character strengths of tact and kindness will help me be respectful when I am working or playing with others in the classroom and on the playground.
K-6 Years News
Grade Spotlight - Year 3
During this semester in history, Year 3 students have been learning about the first inhabitants of Australia by exploring a range of evidence, including early Aboriginal history and Australian megafauna.
As part of their investigations, students have researched extinct Australian animals and presented their findings in a written report. This learning closely ties in with our informative writing unit, allowing students to build on their research skills while learning to present factual information in a clear and engaging way.
We are incredibly proud of the curiosity and enthusiasm Year 3 has shown throughout this project and look forward to seeing how they continue to apply these skills in the coming weeks.

Sydney North Dance Festival and Education Week Performances
Our talented dancers have been busy shining on stage! Students from Junior Jazz and Senior Contemporary proudly represented our school at the Sydney North Dance Festival at Glen Street Theatre, delivering captivating performances to a packed audience. Thank you to the parents and families who came along to support, your cheers and encouragement mean so much.
“The Sydney North Dance Festival was so exciting! I enjoyed seeing all the dancers from the other schools and performing on stage.” Emma G (5G)
“The Sydney North Dance Festival was a phenomenal experience that brought all aspects of dance into a wonderful opportunity to perform! It was wonderful to perform on stage! Thank you to Miss Gunson for preparing us.” Suri L (5G)
As part of Education Week, our Junior Jazz, Boys Hip Hop, and Senior Contemporary groups also wowed audiences with fabulous performances, showcasing their skill, energy, and dedication. We are so proud of the hard work and enthusiasm our students bring to every rehearsal and performance.
‘It was a blast being in front of an audience at Education Week and performing our dance which we have been practising for months. Thank you, Miss Jen and Miss Gunson, for teaching us!” Eric R (5G)

Sydney Opera House Choir
The Senior Choir was incredible at their performance in the Sydney Opera House on Wednesday 6 August as part of the Festival of Choral Music. The amazing Ms Cady prepared the choir throughout Terms One and Two so they were ready with a fabulous repertoire of songs to sing as part of a 700 voice choir accompanied by an orchestra and a stage band. This is part of a series of concerts organised by the DET Arts Unit.

Our choir was thrilled to see that the student comperes for the evenings performance were Myra G and Rachel G both from our school in 6GC. Mr Gorrie joined us in the audience and was astounded at the brilliance of his student comperes and our wonderful choir students.

DET Arts Unit - Other Events
The Stage 2 choir will be performing at the Sydney Town Hall as part of the Primary Proms. Ms Cady has been supported throughout this year by Ms Ok and Mr Persson to prepare the extensive choir repertoire. Mr Persson is hoping to come along and see the big rehearsals where our school joins in as part of a 600 voice choir, as Ms Ok has done in past years.
Two of our students spent last Friday at an Arts Unit animation workshop with other students from across the Sydney region. We can’t wait to see their animation projects.
Two of our Year 5 percussionist band students Xavier B (5G) and Zane M (5N) will be attending a workshop on Taiko drumming out at Rooty Hill High School in a few weeks. Hopefully there will be a video of this amazing experience.
In November we will be sending 30 students along to many long days of rehearsal and remarkable action performances at this year’s SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR. Thanks to Ms Cady for making this and all of these DET Arts Unit opportunities available to our students.
If you are interested in opportunities to extend your child who shows high potential or a very high interest in arts opportunities involving dance, drama, choir, visual arts, or technology such as animation, please reach out to Ms Cady to find out more about the many programs offered by the DET Arts Unit.
